"With Unfixable, Hinsley has carved his own path away from the pop punk aspects of Faber Drive and carved a truly legitimate niche with a true-to life story of a broken man at the end of his rope.  Look for big things from this guy."

"The well-written tune effectively captures the fleeting vibes of summer, the challenges of long-distance love, and the fun of youth, but the real star of the track is Nick’s voice, an octave-jumping miracle set of pipes that stands out with its melodicism in a genre full of emo/pop screamers."

"The track opens with a major to minor back and forth, packed with eerie bells, a slithering flute, and a groovy Rhodes keyboard that all together conjures the madness of a 60s vibe, filling the soundscape with lushness and then suddenly dropping out of the mix to leave a naked acoustic guitar – It’s The Byrds meet a somnambulant Jefferson Airplane in a foggy cemetery. The production is seductive; it’s mysterious; you are invited to enter the world of The Henchman by New York’s Azwel from the forthcoming album Halcyon, due in September.

"Journey into a dark world of crunchy guitars, banging drums, and an expansive low end. The lead guitar mimics the voice here, closely following its melody in the verses of this track. 90s alternative rock meets a buried, Bright Eyes-style doubled vocal in Coldswell’s new single Dark Eyes from their album Void Calls."

SINGLE REVIEW - COLDSWELL - DARK EYES

August 19, 2020

"Ella Blue is a free-spirit of a singer songwriter and her new single One opens with a single guitar chord repeated over and over as she woos us with whispery wail, ultimately breaking the pattern to unleash a Neko Case-style jam that showcases her wild and expansive voice – a calling card to the heavens – which climbs from kitty coo up the tall pillars of sound to ethereal heights. "Playing like an antidote to the cynicism that plagues our current downer culture, Some People - the brand-new single from By Small Ruin - is a bold assertion of identity and individuality that boasts thrilling octave leaps in the vocal, searing electric guitars, and inspired lyrics. This song is for the dreamers."

"A menacing lead guitar and a simple kickdrum hint at danger.  The sudden swell of a drum fill and we settle into the noisy guitar groove of the song.  It feels like the best parts of early The Strokes without all the useless posing and sneering swagger. We also get major Pete Yorn vibes and we aren’t mad about it.
